How will the tournament work?

A record of 48 nations, making it the largest World Cup field with 104 matches to be played across three countries for the first time.

It will take place in 16 cities: 11 in the US, 3 in Mexico and 2 in Canada. Between June 11th and July 19th.

The tournament will also last a record 39 days and a new format features 12 groups of four.

The top two teams from the 12 groups and the eight best third-placed natios will advanced into expanded knockout that will begin with a round of 32.

The new world champion will be crowned at New Jersey´s MetLife Stadium on July 19th.

 

When will the games be played?

With games taking place across four different time zones and at locations up to 2,800 miles apart, there will a total of 13 different kick-off times.

However, the most common kick-off time is 20:00 BST, with 12 group-stage games taking place.

 

Who are the favourites to win?

European champion Spain is one of the favourites, having an almos flawless route through qualification.

Just behind Spain, this generation of England players is tipped to land some silverware.

France are also strong contenders. Didier Dechamp´s squad have a fearsome frontline.

With two Copa America and one World Cup in just four years, the Albiceleste Argentina are looking strong.

Finally, with a record of five World Cups Brazil still on the top list.
