The Boston Bruins picked up a massive 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 3 on Wednesday. With it, they have a 2-1 series lead as they prepare for Game 4. While the first two games of the series were both excellent, Game 3 took things to a whole new level. The Bruins and Maple Leafs' hatred for one another was fully displayedm as each team hit everything in sight. As a result, they came inches away from making history. The Bruins and Maple Leafs had a combined 133 hits on the night. Had they recorded five more before the contest was completed, they would have set an NHL record for the most hits in a Stanley Cup Playoff game that ended in regulation. There's no question that teams play with more intensity during the playoffs, but the Bruins and Maple Leafs are taking it to the extreme, much to the excitement of hockey fans. What's also quite apparent is that tensions are continuing to rise between these two Original Six clubs after each game. They have only played three games, so there's a real chance they could set a hits record if they keep heading in this direction.
